Questions about having multiple accounts. - Guild Wars Forums

I currently have a standard account. I recently purchased the Collectors Edition, mainly for the Guild Wars paraphenalia. I went to guildwars.com and read that if you upgrade your standard account to a collectors account you will not gain any character slots and your standard account is now forever bound to your collectors.

My questions is can I un-install the standard, install the collecters, and log in with two different emails to have access to all 8 charecters and both accounts? Also, if I uninstall the standard, will my charecters for that account be erased?

no need to install any further software

your acct information is stored with Anet, not your local computer

you have 2 options
===============
1. have 2 different accts (and 2 different logins)

2. add the collectors cdkey to your original acct
(waste of an acct if you ask me)

The "glow" effect from Collectors Edition will only be available on the acct which has the CDkey from Collectors

launch guildwars
- create acct
- enter CDkey
- and whatever other info it wants

Will I have to uninstall the standard to get access to both? Is there a place in my current installation whe I can create a new account? I am just afraid that I will join the two accounts together leaving me with only four slots.

BTW is there different collector editions? I thought I read some where that some were coming with in-game weapons.

When you start up guildwars, you'll see a create account button. Click it and follow the prompts, no need to install / unstall anything. This will allow you to enter all new information for login, password, etc. You'll use your current login information to access your first 4 characters and the new information to access the 2nd 4. Unlocks, storage chest, etc will NOT be shared between characters in the 2 accounts, meaning that if you have something in your original account that you want a character in the new account to have, you'll either need a 2nd computer will GW installed on it, or a friend you trust that can can as an intermediary while you give the equipment to the new character. This also means that anything you unlock on one account, will not be available on the other. IE, find a 5/1 vampiric bowstring on account A, account B won't have access to that string for pvp purposes.

There was only 1 collector edition, there were 5 or 6 preorder packages, each one of those gives a unique (but far from overpowering) weapon / item. If you can find an unused preorder, you can input the code into 1 of your accounts and get the special item on all characters created with that account.

dargon has it. You just enter a different email address and password when you start up to choose the account.

I have two accounts, that's exactly how it works. The lack of sharing is annoying at times.

I have a quick question I hope someone can answer. It goes with this thread, so I'll post here instead of starting a new one.

I recently purchased a second copy of the game for myself (yes I'm that addicted) and am going to be creating 4 new characters. I understand that these 4 characters will not share any storage/guilds/unlocks with my original 4. If I want to trade items between these characters via a second computer, will that get me into trouble? I don't plan on having 2 accounts logged in at the same time to hunt together or anything. But if I find a great weapon with one account that would benefit the other, is it legit for me to log them both in and trade this way? I just don't want to get banned for this. If it's against the rules, that's fine. Just wondered if anyone knew the answer.

I ask because I heard they were cracking down on EBay gold buyers...and were watching for trades of great weapons/lots of gold where nothing is exchanged.

we'll you bought both accounts and so you could have them both on at the same time without being in breach of the contract ( i think) the problems start if more than one person is on the same account.
in effect your haveing two accounts is no different in Anets eyes to two people on different sides of the globe buying the game. two accounts = money in the bag for Anet

i can't see them picking up on you swapping weapons between accounts because lots of people give away good stuff for free and they haven't been banned.

Best way to get more storage space have a desktop with your origanal install and a laptop with your special ed or the other way round you get 8 char slots log on both and trade your stuff from one to the other works perfect for me :P
